Week in Review: 6/23/13

Movies I Watched This Week

1) Wreck-It Ralph:  They out-Pixared Pixar.  An excellent movie that even comes with an Iron Giant moment to make you feel all wobbly inside.  (Spoilerish Alert.)

My Rating:  4.5 / 5

2) Pusher III: I'm the Angel of Death:  I must be getting pretty desensitized to violence, because the bloody finale didn't actually dawn on me as particularly brutal until like halfway through.  This is probably the most focused, heart-wrenching, disgusting, and somehow least devastating entry in the Pusher trilogy.  I guess you could call it a happy ending?  All things are relative, right?
My Rating: 4 / 5

3) Private Eye:  Holy crap, this was a great movie.  Go watch it now.  It's on Netflix Instant, and it is amazing.  Well, wait, let me step back a bit.  It's not mind-blowing or particularly original or inventive - it's a pretty standard buddy-cop mystery movie - but it's just so well done and perfectly made that I loved every minute of it.  Alternately hilarious and disturbing, this is the most fun I've had watching a movie so far this year.  Go watch it.

My Rating: 5 / 5
Total: 3 Movies

Minutes I Spent Writing

1) I Need A Job - About 3 hours total, spread across the week.  Current novel length:  52,000 words.

Total: 3 hours.

The Winner:  A Tie!

So, the first week is a wash.  Surprisingly few movies and very little writing - for a blog called "Movies or Minutes," there was almost none of either.  Boo.  I blame my in-laws coming to town, which really threw everything for a loop.  Life is a lot easier when you blame other people.
