Movies I Watched in the Last Week

1) Blackfish - I don't do documentaries so much anymore.  In part it's because I feel like most documentaries just seem like opinion pieces, and I don't get as much info out of my infotainment as I'd like.  That said, this was still a nifty and compelling little piece, even if it did seem like it was ghostwritten by PETA at times.  (For the record, I'm opposed to keeping orcas in captivity less because of the animal cruelty and more because orcas are horrifying sea beasts.  Same reason I see no point to keep bears or lions in zoos.  What's wrong with, like, just some jellyfish or something?)

My Rating:  3.5 / 5

2) Short Time - It's kinda neat to watch foreign remakes of American movies, since I usually just see it the other way around.  Unfortunately, this one didn't do anything for me.  By the forty minute mark, the original had Dabney Coleman trying to talk down a hostage situation while in his underwear.  By that same point in the remake, the protagonist was crying himself to sleep in despair.  (Side note: I did not realize that the original had so few votes on IMDb.  I smell a Holy Grail entry in the future.)

My Rating:  2 / 5

3) Despicable Me 2 - There's something kinda weird and pathetic about complaining about kids' movies on the Internet, so I'll just say that I didn't really care for this one so much and it didn't achieve the, ah, subtleties of the original.

My Rating:  2.5 / 5

Total: 3 Movies

Minutes I Spent Writing in the Last Week

1) Don't Be A Dick - About 2 hours.  Current length:  1,300 words.

Total: 2 Hours

The Winner: Movies....

I don't think I would mind it if Movies won as long as I saw stuff that was more memorable. Sigh....
