Movies I Watched in the Last Week

1) Open Grave - You can read more about what I thought of this movie here.

My Rating: 3 / 5

2) Captain Phillips - I'm disappointed in this one.  Once again, I've allowed critics' ravings about a film to set up my expectations so high that they couldn't possibly be satisfied.  I heard people describe this as being the most suspenseful movie of the year and other similar hyperbole, and while I thought it was a well-made and tense movie, I didn't think it was that thrilling.  It's just a damn good hostage movie that's about twenty minutes too long.

My Rating: 4 / 5

3) Over My Dead Body - I had a lot of fun with this movie.  It's a comedic caper, which means that you know ahead of time which characters are going to "win" and which will "lose," but it manages to throw in some surprises along the way and it remains fun throughout. It's more inventive than you'd expect with some fun performances and direction.  A good one to watch, especially if you're convinced that all Korean films are dark and disturbing.

My Rating: 4 / 5

4) The Internship - Watching this movie is kind of like getting a pep talk and a hug from your dad. Its jokes are a little lame and predictable, its plot twists are a bit contrived and corny, but it feels really nice and comforting, anyway.  Thanks, The Internship.  You're alright.

My Rating: 3.5 / 5

5) In the Name of the King 2: Two Worlds - I don't know why I watched it, either.

My Rating: 1 / 5

Total: 5 Movies

Minutes I Spent Writing in the Last Week

1) I Need a Job - About one hour of pre-publication planning.

2) Born Loser - About three hours of writing.  Current Draft Length: 69,000 words.

Total: 4 Hours

The Winner:  Movies...

I've had to re-adjust my writing schedule to accommodate some changing life situations even though the baby hasn't been born yet.  It's not necessarily a problem, but it does mean I'm still getting used to the new routine.  Hopefully it works out.
