Movies I Watched in the Last Week

1) Edge of Tomorrow - This is easily on my list of the best movies I've seen this year.  It's been a long time since I've seen a science fiction movie that so effortlessly and expertly builds up the mythology of its world, then introduces its premise so seamlessly.  Plus, it's got some amazing action set-pieces and eye candy on top of it.  Much recommended.

My Rating: 5 / 5

2) X-Men: Days of Future Past - I always feel left out when I watch comic book movies because directors tend to put these meaningful close-ups of certain people or things and I have no idea what the hell the big deal is supposed to be since I never read comics as a kid.  But despite the ten minutes or so of the movie that was spent nudging the audience that completely fell flat for me, I thought this was a terrific film.  It has a great sense of suspenseful pacing and rising tension that so many comic book movies lack.  I also loved that they basically just re-wrote their franchise history so that Last Stand never happened - more filmmakers oughta do that.  Maybe we can find a way to excise Iron Man 2?

My Rating: 4 / 5

Total: 2 Movies

Minutes I Spent Writing in the Last Week

Nothing.  Regrettably.

The Winner: Movies...

I'm going through that sort of post-writing low right now where I'm basically just feeling sorry for myself and doubting that my novels will ever go anywhere, so between that and taking care of the baby, it's been pretty tough to actually put a single word on the page.  Maybe next week.  Time usually helps.

Oh!  Or booze!  Let me try that and get back to you.
