Movies I Watched in the Last Week
1) Fed Up - I think I'm going to write a more detailed review of this later. An interesting documentary, but it has some severe flaws. A better inspirational speech than a documentary.
My Rating: 3 / 5
2) Forbidden City Cop - I tried watching Kung Fu Dunk, which was trying hard to be a Stephen Chow comedy, for about twenty minutes and couldn't get into it. So I dug up an actual Stephen Chow movie instead. That dude is a genius. I don't think I've ever seen a Chow movie that didn't at least make me smile, even if it wasn't great. The thing is, kinda like Jackie Chan movies are to action, I often can't remember too much of the plot a year later - only set pieces and gags. So, to remind myself which one Forbidden City Cop was: this is the one where he puts a proto-gun in his mouth and spins a couple of fan blades above his head to turn himself into a military helicopter. Good stuff.
My Rating: 4 / 5
3) That Guy... Who Was in That Thing - I liked the content in this movie and I enjoyed the interviews - there's a lot of neat perspectives and stories from hard-working character actors that rarely get the kind of platform and attention they deserve. But some of the actual video quality was kind of weird. Like shots would get shaky or the camera would drift aimlessly, or maybe it would get slightly out of focus. The documentary as a whole also felt kind of disorganized. I still recommend checking this out if you have any interest in Hollywood or acting or movies, but it's not as well made as it could be.
My Rating: 3.5 / 5
Minutes I Spent Writing in the Last Week
1) Secondhand Souls - About 4 hours of revisions.
Total: 4 Hours
The Winner: Minutes!
How is it midway through May already? I need to step up my game if I'm going to get this book out by October.
