Movies I Watched in the Last Week

1) Run All Night - Man, what a grumpy movie.  I know there were parts that needed to be serious and severe and all that, but did it have to be so dour?  Couldn't they have set aside at least a minute or two for a joke?  Still, it was fun for what it was.

My Rating: 3.5 / 5

2) A Walk Among the Tombstones - I loved this movie.  At first I thought it was just going to be another too-serious Liam Neeson action movie (see above), and at times it certainly leans that way.  But this is a perfect blend of noir, thriller, and completely unexpected comedy.  This is easily Neeson's most interesting character and performance in over a decade.  I'm shocked that more people didn't adore it, but then again, I guess it's hard to say you "adore" a movie with as grim a plot as this.  Give it some time and I think this will find the audience it deserves.

My Rating: 5 / 5

3) Unfinished Business - I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected.  Dave Franco continues to win me over and I was even fond of Vince Vaughn, who for some reason usually rubs me the wrong way.  Naturally, this was apparently a deeply hated movie last year.  Figures.

My Rating: 3.5 / 5

4) Hobgoblins 2 - I watched this for my side blog.  Ugh.  It's a Fake Bad Movie.  Not as obnoxious as something like Sharknado, but this is still pretty damn wretched.

My Rating: 1 / 5 (FBM)

Minutes I Spent Writing in the Last Week

1) Post-Apocalyptic Comedy Book - About 4 hours of writing. Current first draft length: 41,000 words

Total: 4 Hours

The Winner: A Tie.

I'll take a tie as a victory.  Especially in light of a Liam Neeson double feature.
