Week in Review: 7/3/16

Movies I Watched in the Last Week

1) Goosebumps - I'm tempted to nitpick at this one because of some of its sillier aspects, but I'm having a hard time justifying that.  It's overall a fun, energetic little movie that's kid-friendly and still kind of entertaining for adults.  Gives me a strong Jumanji vibe, actually - I bet this is one that kids growing up today are going to be obsessed with in like twenty years.

My Rating: 4 / 5

2) The Good Dinosaur - If I'm being a dick, I'd call this one loosely-scripted and I'd go on about how it meanders too much and doesn't have a satisfying ending.  So, uh, I guess I just did.  On the other hand, it's got some of the most incredible animation I've ever seen and there are enough fun set-pieces and cute comedy bits to keep up its energy to the end.  I guess I liked it.

My Rating: 3.5 / 5

3) 10 Cloverfield Lane - I loved this movie so, so, so much.  It's a terrific thriller with great characters, great acting, and a great story. I'll have to go into it more some other time so I can gush about it properly, but in the meantime, go see it if you haven't already.

My Rating: 5 / 5
