Movies I Watched in the Last Week
1) The Angry Birds Movie - I'm going to post one of them famous "liberal censorship rants" about this movie sometime in the new year. There's some deeply unpleasant stuff in here that probably shouldn't be peddled to ten year-olds - or at least, not in as reductive and playful a manner as this. But if you look past that - and I mean this sincerely, with all intention of bridging the gaps between political parties - I think you'll find it's a mediocre comedy.
My Rating: 2.5 / 5
2) Terminator: Genisys - I knew this was going to be dumb going into it, so I didn't quite hate it as much as I think the Internet wanted me to. I actually appreciate a lot of the more bizarre and ridiculous ideas that it ran with; in a lot of ways, it's a breath of fresh air in the realm of redundant sequels. Unfortunately, it's ultimately boring and I caught myself falling asleep at parts of it.
Still, I'd love to see them make a direct sequel to this one - they've set up an alternate Terminator universe that's prime for over-the-top action scenes and science-fiction nonsense. If they try to make Terminator 6 in the Fast Five mold, with maybe a dash of Stephen Chow to play up the out-and-out magic bullshit, we'd end up with one of the greatest popcorn movies in history.
My Rating: 2 / 5

Minutes I Spent Writing in the Last Week
1) Post-Apocalyptic Comedy Novel - About 4 hours writing the first draft. Current draft length: About 66,000 words.
Total: 4 Hours
The Winner: Minutes!
I'm narrowly closing in on the finish line for my book. Technically I still have two weeks left to do it, but practically speaking, it's more like one week. Ugh, why do I do this to myself?
