Week in Review: 12/4/16

Movies I Watched in the Last Week

1) Hardcore Henry - I'm conflicted about this one.  I appreciate the innovation and awesome stunt work / actions scenes, but the grotesque celebration of brutal violence and nausea-inducing camera work unsettled me.  Plus, I kinda like my movies to have a plot, y'know?  I do think this movie is worth seeking out for at least one watch because of the energy and barrage of crazy ideas it throws at you.  I'm just not sure if I'm going to watch again.

My Rating: 3 / 5

2) The Galaxy Invader - This is rough around the edges, but super fun, anyway.  I think people might mistakenly think it's a "so bad it's good" situation, but the filmmakers knew exactly what they were doing.  It's just a good time in general.  It's literally about drunk rednecks hunting an alien because they think it'll make them rich.  That's not a snide plot recap or an ironic take on what is otherwise a serious movie... that is actually the plot.  It is endearingly cheap and ludicrous, and quite infectious.  Check it out.

My Rating: 3.5 / 5
