Movies I Watched in the Last Week

1) Ernest & Celestine - This is a sweet, gentle kids' movie with beautiful animation and upstanding morals.  In short, the kind of thing that I roll my eyes at whenever I'm feeling cynical.  But when you're done rolling your eyes and you're willing to pay attention, give this one a watch - it's very good.

My Rating: 4 / 5

2) The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness - This is a compelling documentary about Hayao Miyazaki.  I like his work well enough, but I can't say I've ever found him to be one of "my" artists.  I'm sure mega-fans will find the extra information about his work habits interesting, but what really stood out to me was how frankly they depict him.  It's neither critical nor congratulatory - just him being him, speaking freely and revealing that he's a bit of a self-serious crackpot.  Whether that makes him more or less magical is on you.

My Rating: 4 / 5
