1,000th Post

By my math, today marks my 1,000th post for this blog.

Hooray?

Um.  I'm not sure how I feel about this, you guys.

On the one hand, one thousand is a nice big round number and I'm happy to have made it this far.  Nobody gets to a thousand of anything without discipline, so I'm proud to say I was able to put in the work.

On the other hand, I'm like four years into this with barely any readership or book sales, and there are times when it feels masturbatorily depressing to keep plugging away week after week without knowing if anybody really cares.  At a certain point I wonder if the number of posts will go from "merit badge" to "oh, my, he's still doing that, I hope somebody gets him the help he needs."

To those of you who have been reading since the beginning (translation: my wife and friends): thank you.  Thank you, thank you, thank you sincerely for checking in and seeing what nonsense I'm on about this time.

To those of you who don't read regularly and just stopped by to say hello: Thanks, and please consider sticking around.  I mean, there's 1,000 pages in the back catalog, so there's plenty here for you to kill some time.  Go nuts.  But also, I kinda sorta have an idea of what I'm doing here now, so all the best stuff is still to come.

To those who showed up to leave an angry comment and who probably will never be back: Sometimes people disagree with you on the Internet.  I'm glad we can all be mature about it.

To that one guy who really liked Anna and commented a bunch on my review of it: Sorry, guy, but I barely remember anything about that movie three years later.  It really failed to leave an impression on me.  I'm glad you liked it, though, clearly the movie found at least one member of its audience.

Thanks again to anybody who's ever read.  Fingers crossed I'll have more to brag about than the number when I get to 2,000.
